Ipe (pronounced E-pay) is harvested from 100% FSC Certified Forests in Eastern Bolivia and is one of the most abundant species in those forests. The naturally slow-growing 100-year-old trees are harvested for the heartwood, which is the finest part of the Ipe tree. Ipe is known for its incredible strength, density, and high-wear durability. The sun and moisture gracefully transform Ipe to a mature, rustic silver patina. The original color remains preserved just beneath the weathered surface. Choose to let Ipe weather naturally or preserve the color with simple maintenance. The original color can be restored after it has weathered.
